Waycot Holiday Cottage Staithes

Staithes Holiday CottageInformation

Because of the geography of Staithes there is no room for parking in the old village, and visitors' cars need to be parked at the top of the hill, in the newer part of the village, necessitating a short but steep walk down the hill to Waycot.

Turning off the A174 into Staithes, you will follow Staithes Lane until you reach the Captain Cook Inn, where the road sweeps round to the right into the public car park, for which there is a permit available in the cottage.

If, instead of turning right into the car park, you keep straight on, you can drive down the steep hill to the end of Browns Terrace, where you can unload for the cottage and collect the parking permit. When you descend the hill, stop the car (half on the pavement) in front of the first house on the left, towards the bottom of the hill. Opposite, on the right hand side of the road, you should see the sign for 'Browns Terrace' above a green garage door. Waycot is the second house along, on the right. Having collected the car park permit from the table in the cottage, you should be able to find somewhere to turn the car round, return to the car park, and leave the car (with permit displayed) in the main part of the car park. Make sure you don't park in the 'Residents' section.
